Welcome to the Canadian Nurses Foundation awards application. Thanks to our generous donors we are able to offer over $400,000 of scholarships and bursaries to nurses and nursing students across Canada and one application will qualify you for all awards that apply. Award amounts may vary each year based on funds available and direction of the donor’s criteria for each award.

Thanks to the support of the Canadian Nursing Students Association, fees have been waived for the 2025 application cycle. Thank you!

Helpful hints and information about your application:

  • Time requirement is about approximately 3-4 hours to complete
    • We recommend you start the application more than a week ahead of the deadline
  • Information required for every application: 
    • Your Resume/Curriculum Vitae (CV)
    • Confirmation from your current school of your registration in your program
    • Transcripts (preferred) or grades from your academic institution in an e-based format
    • Reference(s) are required and must be submitted ahead of the deadline:
      • One or two references are required from your current academic supervisors
      • References will require time to complete their electronic form. Leave at least 5 – 10 business days to complete this step.
  • Due to the requirements listed above, you should expect the application to be fully completed in two or more sessions
  • If applying/qualifying for Indigenous-directed awards, additional information may be required
  • Other information:
    • There is an opportunity to include supporting documentation that you feel makes your application stronger (optional)
    • If a question asks ‘for up to’ a certain number of criteria, each criteria provides additional potential for scoring up to the maximum number indicated
    • Applicants can only receive one award per year 
    • If you received an award in a previous year, you are eligible to apply for the current year

What to expect if you are selected:

If you have been selected to be offered an Award, we will notify via email no later than July 31, 2025 and provide you with the Award name, amount and agreement. You will be asked to provide the following information:

  • Your Social Insurance Number (SIN) – ALL student awards are taxable income according to Canada Revenue Agency and CNF must issue a T4A for each 
  • A current Picture
  • A short professional Biography
  • A 30-second Thank You video for your Award donor
  • Permission to communicate directly with your Award donor – Donors love to hear how their investment in you has helped.
